    NEW: Mercer Athletic Policies

The Asa Mercer International Middle School policies are in compliance with SPS policies; however, we hold higher expectations in regard to requiring a “C” in academics for every class rather than an accumulative grade point average of “C” for all classes.

    1. Student athletes are expected to in good academic standing. Student athlete grade reports will be reviewed each week.

    1. Student athletes must maintain at a minimum a C in all classes in BOTH citizenship and academics. Student athletes with failing grades may not attend games nor participate in games or practices.

    1. Grades or citizenship marks below a C will result in student athlete being ineligible for next game and may include referral to after school tutoring.

    1. If a student athlete receives a discplinary infraction, it may result in not being eligible to play in the next game.

    1. If a student is at school, they are expected to attend practice.  An unexcused absence from practice may result in student athlete being ineligible for next game.

    1. If a student athlete is absent from school on a game day they may not play in the game and if they are absent on a practice day they may not show up for practice.

    1. Student athletes are expected to show up on time and dressed to participate.

    1. Consistent tardy to practice may result in student athlete being removed from the team.

    1. Each sport may require student athletes to have specific equipment (i.e. soccer requires shin guards).  It will be the student athlete’s responsibility to provide this equipment.  If a family needs assistance, please work with the coaches.

    1. Student athletes must have a current sports physical on file at the school and proof of insurance.  Sports insurance can be purchased through the school district.  You can contact our school nurse to set up insurance (206) 252-5817.  A physical is good for 2 years from the date it was given.

    1. Limited transportation is provided for Saturday games to and from Mercer. Families are responsible for getting students to and from Mercer.

    12. Student athletes must have a positive attitude and be ready to have fun!!!!!!
