    Update

    Dear Mercer Families,

I want to correct my error. Surveys for an intent to return to in person learning are due tomorrow, April 6 by 11:59 pm.

You can find the survey here: Back to School Hybrid Survey

You can find more information about in person learning here: https://www.seattleschools.org/district/calendars/news/what_s_new/in-person_learning

Finally, this Thursday, April 8, 2021 we will host a family orientation for in person learning via Teams.

Mercer Family Orientation for in person learning:
    • April 8, 2021 - 6:00 - 7:30 pm

A Teams Meeting link was sent to your email.

Last Friday, you received an email survey from Seattle Public Schools asking you to indicate your interest in your student returning to Mercer for in person learning two afternoons per week beginning April 19, 2021. Families must respond by Tuesday, April 6 if you want your student to join an in person learning cohort.

Families who do not respond will automatically be assigned to the 100% remote learning cohort.

To help families make decisions I want to provide you with a few more details about what we hope in person learning at Mercer will look like.
    • All students will participate in remote classes from 9:00 - 11:10 am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
    • Students choosing to return to in person learning will be divided into two cohorts (Monday, Tuesday or Thursday Friday) and will come to Mercer from 11:45 - 3:50 two days per week.
    • Students choosing in person learning will rotate to 3-4 classes per day and we are working to ensure all students have access to their current teachers. On days that students are home in the afternoon they will also rotate to 3-4 classes per day in the afternoon.
    • Students choosing to remain 100% remote will also rotate to 3-4 classes per day on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
    • We are still learning what in person class will look like for students in PE and music (band, orchestra and choir).
    • Wednesdays will continue to be remote small groups for all students.
    • All students will have equitable access to teachers, instruction and learning opportunities.
Some notes about what it means to return to in person learning at Mercer:
    • All students must have a liability form turned into Mercer to attend school in person.
    • All students are required to complete a daily online health check at home prior to coming to school.
    • Students should arrive to campus between 11:45 - 11:55 am. Students will not be permitted arrive to campus or enter buildings or classrooms early.
    • No parents or guests will we allowed on campus, in the building or in classrooms. This is for the health and safety of all members of our community. If you need to speak with some please call the main office and we will help you.
    • All students will be required to wear a mask at all times and respect social distancing (6 feet) guidelines.
    • Each classroom will be equipped with: hand sanitizer, 1 box of gloves, 1 box of masks, soap and water spray and paper towels.
    • Students will be expected to help sanitize their work space (desk and chair) before transitioning to their next class. Teachers will sanitize door knobs and common spaces in classrooms. Bottles of water will be available for students or they may bring their own water bottle.
    • No food will be permitted in classrooms or in buildings.Students will be expected to eat lunch prior to coming to school.
    • Students will be required to bring their charged laptop and power cord each day.
    • Students will not be assigned lockers and are expected to have a bag or backpack to carry all of their personal items.
As we know more I will send out additional details. Please know there is no correct decision. We encourage all families to make the decision that best serves your student and your family.

If you have questions, please reach out to your student's A-Team teacher, grade level administrator or grade level counselor.

    Go Mustangs!
